Butter Frosting

Ingredients:
6 tablespoons butter
4 1/2 to 4 3/4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
In a small bowl beat butter till light and fluffy.  Gradually add half of the sugar, beating well.   Beat in the milk and vanilla.  Gradually beat in remaining sugar and additional milk if necessary to make frosting of spreading consistency. 

Chocolate Butter Frosting:  Prepare as above and add 2 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled, with the vanilla.

Orange or Lemon Butter Frosting:  Prepare as above but add 1 teaspoon shredded orange peel or 1/2 teaspoon finely shredded lemon peel with vanilla.  Use orange juice or lemon juice instead of milk.
